Shillong, Feb 6 (IANS) Over 350 candidates filed their nomination papers for the Feb 23 elections to the Meghalaya assembly, an election official said Wednesday.

Shillong, Feb 6 — Over 350 candidates filed their nomination papers for the Feb 23 elections to the Meghalaya assembly, an election official said Wednesday.

The filing of the nominations to contest the polls to 60-member Meghalaya assembly ended Wednesday with no reports of poll-related incidents.

"A total of 357 candidates have filed nomination papers for the 60 assembly constituencies. On the last day (Wednesday) of filing papers, 52 candidates filed nominations," state Chief Electoral Officer Prashant Naik said.

Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and former chief ministers D.D. Lapang, Salseng C. Marak and Donkupar Roy filed their nomination papers as nominees of the Congress and United Democratic Party respectively.

The ruling Congress party has fielded its candidates in all the 60 assembly constituency.
