Kerry, who took office Feb 1 to succeed Hillary Clinton, will visit Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

The conflicts in Mali, Syria and Afghanistan will top Kerry's agenda, Xinhua cited the State Department as saying.

In London, his first stop, Kerry will meet senior British officials to discuss a range of bilateral and global issues the two allies are closely coordinating, the department said.

In Berlin, he will discuss issues of mutual interest and make a number of public appearances, including an exchange of views with German youth on the state of European-American relations.

Kerry will meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in the German capital over "a wide range" of bilateral and international issues, with focus expected on Syria.

In Paris, Kerry will discuss with senior French officials the ongoing military intervention in Mali spearheaded by the French military.

During his stay in Rome, the US Secretary of State will participate in a number of bilateral and multilateral meetings with European allies to review the "wider transatlantic relationship" and discuss issues of global concern.

Kerry will also participate in multilateral meetings on Syria and meet the leaders of the Syrian Opposition Coalition.

In Turkey's capital Ankara, he will discuss the "strategic priorities" between the two NATO allies, including the crisis in Syria, regional stability, peace and security as well as counterterrorism cooperation.

In Cairo, he will meet government officials, political leaders, civil society leaders and the business community to encourage "greater political consensus" and moving forward on economic reforms.

Kerry: Kobani Is Just 'One Community'

Oct 13 2014 3:00pm CDT | Source: Big Government

Monday, Secretary of State John Kerry downplayed the importance of defending the besieged Syrian border town of Kobani despite widespread reports that ISIS is using its success there as a recruiting tool. Kerry said, “Kobani is one community, and it’s a tragedy what is happening there, and we don’t diminish that. But we have said from day one it is going to take a period of time to bring the coalition thoroughly to the table, to rebuild some of the morale and capacity of the Iraqi ...

'Life on Earth ends' if climate skeptics wrong

Oct 13 2014 1:33pm CDT | Source: WND

(CNSNEWS) — “Life as you know it on Earth ends” if climate change skeptics are wrong, Sec. of State John Kerry declared Thursday. But, even if climate alarmists are wrong, nothing bad can come of enacting their taxes, restrictions and regulations, Kerry said in a speech at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center: “I’d just say to all of you here that people need to feel the pressure from you. You all know what politi ...

Does America Have a Foreign Policy?

Oct 13 2014 10:37am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

Sadly, the answer is 'no.' We have not had one since Barack Obama entered the Oval Office six years ago. That does not mean that his actions have been worse than his Bush predecessor's or that he has made more mistakes. That depends in good part on one's preferences and angle of vision. What it does mean is that the United States' external relations have not been guided by a comprehensive strategy based on a conception of our place in the world and a clear sense of o ...

Bringing the Ebola war home

Oct 12 2014 3:50pm CDT | Source: WND

Back in the days of the Vietnam War, those of us who were on the wrong side – like John Kerry and Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland – were eager to “bring the war home.” That became the mantra of the political left – “bring the war home.” The idea was to make ordinary American citizens feel the effects of the war so they would quickly demand an unconditional withdrawal, setting the stage of a Communist victory – which ...

Clinton, Obama Share Blame for ISIS, Iraq

Oct 12 2014 7:36am CDT | Source: Big Government

President Barack Obama's policy on Iraq is a complete failure. As terrorists from the so-called Islamic State lay siege to Kobani, defeat once-solid Kurdish forces and threaten western Baghdad, the folly of Obama's campaign, limited to air strikes for purely political reasons, is clear to the world. And Obama's former advisers agree that his hasty, total withdrawal from Iraq in 2011 and inaction on Syria are the main reasons for the deadly chaos. ...
