Colombo, Feb 26 — A group of 75 Sri Lankans have been returned by the Indian government from a pilgrimage in south India due to security worries, Xinuua reported Tuesday.

The group who were on a pilgrimage to Velankanni in Tamil Nadu were advised by police to return due to rising anti-Sri Lankan sentiment, the Daily Mirror and Sunday Times said.

Last week, a gang attacked the SriLankan Airlines office in Chennai. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha axed the 20th Asian Athletics Championship as it would include a team from Sri Lanka.

India is likely to support a US resolution at the UNHRC calling on the Sri Lankan government to brush up its human rights record and improve reconciliation.

UN Climate Summit Will Be a Time of Reckoning

Sep 17 2014 9:44am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

Next week President Obama will attend the United Nations Climate Summit in New York. Over 125 heads of government will gather for the event, more than the 2009 climate talks in Copenhagen. This summit is not designed to generate a legal agreement, but it will offer an important moment of reckoning. People should expect leaders to say: Here is what my country is already doing to reduce climate change pollution. And we are prepared to deepen that commitment again next year. Strong actio ...

NCPA Senior Fellow John Graham explains how the country's patent laws hurt Indian patients: because few drugs receive strong patent protection, drug-makers are loath to sell their medicines in India.
