Pakistan asks India, Afghanistan to clear positions

Feb 27 2013, 11:18am CST | by

Islamabad, Feb 27 (IANS) Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik Wednesday demanded that India and Afghanistan clear their positions on the statement of Chuck Hagel, who took charge of the US Defense Department, that India finances troubles in Pakistan.

Islamabad, Feb 27 — Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik Wednesday demanded that India and Afghanistan clear their positions on the statement of Chuck Hagel, who took charge of the US Defense Department, that India finances troubles in Pakistan.

Malik told newsmen in Islamabad that he had asked Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Indian authorities to clear their positions on the matter, Xinhua reported, quoting local media.

"I ask Afghanistan to clear its position that it is not involved in any terrorist activity. We have done the best on our part. I hope proper clarification would be issued, otherwise I would demand apology from both India and Afghanistan," he added.

Malik also announced that his country has decided to ban from March 8 the illegal entry of people into its territory from Afghanistan, local media reported.

Pakistan and Afghanistan have over 2,000-km-long porous border and both countries routinely complain to each other about the failure to check illegal border-crossing.

New Studies, Reports Heighten Need for Action on Climate Change

Oct 24 2014 7:27pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

For years our Congress has ignored humans' impact on climate change. Many members of Congress have used terms like "pseudoscience" and ignored the fact that 97 percent of scientists studying the issue have concluded that climate change is real, that its impact will significantly worsen with time and that human activity is the principal cause. It is about time for Congress to address the issue and pass legislation that provides an innovative approach to both mitigating and ad ...

Clay Aiken's Latest Attack Ad Is Off Key

Oct 21 2014 4:52pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

The Following post first appeared on FactCheck.org. Clay Aiken’s latest attack ad against incumbent Republican Rep. Renee Ellmers hits a couple of bad notes. Aiken falsely claims Ellmers “voted against the payroll tax cut because she thought $1,000 out of your pocket is not that much money.” She voted against a two-month extension because it wasn’t long enough, and helped craft a bipartisan bill that extended the payroll tax holiday for one year. Aiken also sa ...

She is a radar technician, and she has been deployed as far away as Bosnia to put her specialized training to use. That was in 2002. About a year later, she transitioned from publicly identifying as a man to identifying as a woman. It didn't take long for word to spread in the military. "I've arrived at a unit, and they're expecting a drag queen," said Murray. ...

Neil Young: Forget ISIS, Fight Climate Change Instead

Oct 14 2014 4:18pm CDT | Source: Big Government

Rock legend Neil Young told radio host Howard Stern on Tuesday that the "free world" ought to fight climate change rather than the Islamic State, or ISIS. Visiting the Howard Stern Show for a long-awaited interview, Young slammed both Democrats and Republicans for ignoring the plight of the planet, suggesting that environmental damage from the "carbon footprint" of the U.S. military was a greater threat than Islamic terror in the Mideast. The relevant portion of the int ...

Congressman Defends Tobacco Sales to Troops: 'Leave Us the Hell Alone'

Oct 8 2014 10:07am CDT | Source: Big Government

California Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter is fighting a potential ban on tobacco sales on military bases and ships. The idea of a ban is currently under a department review, thanks to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. But Hunter, a Marine reservist who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, is already fighting the idea.  “It’s not curbed for anybody else. Why pick out the folks who choose of their own accord to fight for their country and serve their country, and pu ...

Congressmen to Obama: Define troops' Ebola mission

Oct 6 2014 8:18pm CDT | Source: WND

Sierra Leone troops prepare to remove the bodies of suspected Ebola victims. WASHINGTON – The White House has issued what it calls a “fact sheet” on its plan to send up to 4,000 U.S. troops to the Ebola hot zone in West Africa, but some lawmakers feel that falls short of a detailed plan and a strategy. Rep. Walter B. Jones, R-N.C., a key member of the House Armed Services committee, has seen that fact sheet but told WND he was not reassur ...
