Pakistan asks India, Afghanistan to clear positions

Feb 27 2013, 11:18am CST | by

Islamabad, Feb 27 (IANS) Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik Wednesday demanded that India and Afghanistan clear their positions on the statement of Chuck Hagel, who took charge of the US Defense Department, that India finances troubles in Pakistan.

Islamabad, Feb 27 — Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik Wednesday demanded that India and Afghanistan clear their positions on the statement of Chuck Hagel, who took charge of the US Defense Department, that India finances troubles in Pakistan.

Malik told newsmen in Islamabad that he had asked Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Indian authorities to clear their positions on the matter, Xinhua reported, quoting local media.

"I ask Afghanistan to clear its position that it is not involved in any terrorist activity. We have done the best on our part. I hope proper clarification would be issued, otherwise I would demand apology from both India and Afghanistan," he added.

Malik also announced that his country has decided to ban from March 8 the illegal entry of people into its territory from Afghanistan, local media reported.

Pakistan and Afghanistan have over 2,000-km-long porous border and both countries routinely complain to each other about the failure to check illegal border-crossing.

CNN Pentagon Correspondent: Lack of Strategy on ISIS 'Odd,' 'Surprising'

Aug 28 2014 5:10pm CDT | Source: Big Government

CNN Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr said that the president’s declaration that the United States did not have a strategy to defeat ISIS was “a little surprising,” and “a little odd perhaps” on Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead” with Jake Tapper.  “You have to wonder exactly what message he was sending here today. Let's be very clear. ISIS heard all of this. So the president of the United States says we have no strategy yet. This is a little surp ...

In last few days I have appeared on a number of Arab TV channels discussing the growing threat of ISIL and what will be required to fully defeat the organization. ISIL is barbaric and violent. The brutal murder of journalist James Foley last week showed the true realities of ISIL to an American audience, but throughout the region under their control, their unimaginable barbarism is prevalent. There ...

Obama Struggles to Craft Message on Threat of Islamic State

Aug 26 2014 8:46am CDT | Source: Big Government

According to The Hill, the White House is struggling to craft a unified message over the threat posed by the Islamic State (IS), the terrorist group surging across Iraq. "Officials have sowed confusion," the Washington political paper wrote on Monday, "by giving different statements at different times on the level of danger posed by the Islamic group." Obama's decision to ask Congress last year to authorize action in Syria is giving him trouble now as he looks to take ...

ABOARD A US MILITARY AIRCRAFT (AP) — Gen. Martin Dempsey says that once he determines the Islamic State militants in Iraq have become a direct threat to the U.S. homeland, he will recommend the U.S. military move directly against the group in Syria. But the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said that right now, he still believes the insurgent group is still more a regional threat and is not plotting or planning attacks against either the U.S. or Europe.
