Strategic balance of forces being disrupted: Putin

Feb 27 2013, 3:10pm CST | by

Moscow, Feb 28 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russian President Vladimir Putin has said systematic attempts are being made to undermine the existing strategic balance of forces.

Moscow, Feb 28 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russian President Vladimir Putin has said systematic attempts are being made to undermine the existing strategic balance of forces.

Speaking Wednesday at a meeting with senior military staff at the Russian defense ministry, Putin said: "Systematic attempts are being made from the outside to disrupt the strategic balance in this or that manner.

"In fact, the second stage of the US global missile defense system is being launched, and the possibilities for further NATO eastward expansion are being explored."

"The danger of the militarisation of the Arctic also persists," he added.

Putin said those challenges affect Russia's national interests and determine the priorities of its foreign policy.

Moscow has consistently opposed NATO's US-led missile defense programme for Europe, claiming it undermines Russia's nuclear deterrent. NATO maintains the programme is aimed at emerging nuclear weapon states such as Iran and North Korea.

The British military are to spend £650 million on drones to stop the Russians from making any further incursions into the UK's territorial waters. John Kerry, Useful Idiot for Hamas

Jul 21 2014 7:57am CDT | Source: Big Government

Russian President Vladimir Putin Visits Samara
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is on his way to Cairo, as of this writing, to attempt to negotiate yet another ceasefire. His journey is a thoughtless, and no doubt narcissistic, waste of U.S. diplomatic capital, since after two unilateral Israeli ceasefires that Hamas blithely ignored, it is clear that military pressure on Hamas, not diplomatic pressure on Israel, is the only way to stop the violence. This i ...

John Kerry: Drunken Soldiers Unceremoniously Piling MH17 Bodies

Jul 20 2014 9:02am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

Russian President Vladimir Putin Visits Samara
WASHINGTON -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry didn't hold back Sunday in his criticism of the crash site cleanup after Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down in eastern Ukraine Thursday. Pro-Russian separatists in the area have reportedly removed nearly 200 bodies and denied access to international investigators. "Drunken -- I mean literally, drunken -- separatist soldiers are piling bodies into ...

Russian President Vladimir Putin Visits Samara
News of Thursday's fatal crash which took the lives of all passengers on board (nearly 300 people) Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 dominated the front pages of newspapers internationally.  Evidence from Kiev, in the form of intercepted communications, suggests that the surface-to-air missile which shot down the flight was administered by pro-Russian rebels using a BUK anti-missile system. President Obama has placed a bulk of the responsibility for what one newspaper head ...

Abby Martin of Russia Today WASHINGTON – Russia Today, or RT, already under considerable criticism for biased coverage of the shoot down of Malaysia Airlines’ Boeing 777 MH-17 flight, has now relented in its defense of Russian-backed Ukrainian rebels by calling for an international probe to determine culpability for the deadly attack. Portraits Of World Leaders Painted By Former President George W. Bush Go On Display At His Presidential Library
For a short time after September 11, 2001 anyone who dared to criticize then President Bush was called an unpatriotic traitor. Remember the Dixie Chicks? But today when international crises occur those same folks pushing that patriotic fervor are quick to find fault with our current Commander in Chief. Whatever happened to putting our country first? It seems to me any global unrest becomes an excuse to bash our Presid ...

Jordan's King Abdullah Meets With House Foreign Affairs Chairman Ed Royce
WASHINGTON (AP) — Surveying a dizzying array of international crises, President Barack Obama stated the obvious: "We live in a complex world and at a challenging time." And then suddenly, only a day later, the world had grown much more troubling, the challenges even more confounding. The downing Thursday of a passenger plane carrying nearly 300 people spread the impact of the standoff between Ukraine and Russia far around the globe. Th ...
