Moscow not security rival to Washington: US envoy

Jun 10 2013, 8:48pm CDT | by

Moscow, June 11 (IANS/RIA Novosti) The US administration does not regard Russia as a rival in security matters but views Moscow as a partner with whom it can jointly resolve global issues, the US ambassador to Russia said Monday.

Moscow, June 11 (IANS/RIA Novosti) The US administration does not regard Russia as a rival in security matters but views Moscow as a partner with whom it can jointly resolve global issues, the US ambassador to Russia said Monday.

"We do not consider Russia as a rival to the United States either in security or in the economy. President Obama favours relations that would benefit both countries rather than force a 'zero-sum game' on them, as during the Cold War," according to a Russian-language transcript of McFaul's speech at a seminar of the Moscow School of Political Studies.

Having "better relations with Russia" is in Washington's national interests, McFaul said. "We believe so, and are working towards this goal," he added.

McFaul cited nuclear arms control, and the situations in North Korea, Iran, and also Afghanistan, especially after the planned US troop withdrawal in 2014, as among the global issues that Moscow and Washington need to address together.

Oct 21 2014 8:18pm CDT | Source: Big Government

WASHINGTON (AP) — Two weeks before Election Day, most of the nation's likely voters now expect the Republican Party to take control of the U.S. Senate, according to a new Associated Press-GfK poll. And by a growing margin, they say that's the outcome they'd like to see. But the survey suggests many will cringe when they cast those ballots. Most likely voters have a negative impression of the Republican Party, and 7 in 10 are dissatisfied by its leaders in Cong ...

Now it's jail time for faithful Christians

Oct 21 2014 6:49pm CDT | Source: WND

Do you believe marriage is for members of the opposite sex? How strongly do you believe that? Is your belief strong enough to face jail time for your opinion? How would you feel if you were forced by a city or state or federal government to participate in a same-sex wedding? Would your opinion change if your decision not to participate could land you in jail? These are not hypothetical questions for Christian pastors Donald and Evelyn Knapp. They are a ...

Hallelujah! Liberal women wake up to Obama

Oct 21 2014 6:48pm CDT | Source: WND

When a diehard liberal woman like Tina Brown comes out and completely destroys the left’s “war on women” argument, you know you are in trouble. In an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Brown didn’t mince words when she made it clear that Barack Obama has shattered the confidence women once had in him. Probably realizing that the Dems are going to get scorched in the mid-terms, she tried to justify the reason why he was losing one of his most loyal support grou ...

With midterms around the corner, Barack Obama’s popularity at a stunning all-time low, Democrat candidates avoiding Obama like Ebola and hundreds of audience members actually walking out during a presidential campaign appearance, it’s a rough time for Democrats. Midterm Shockwave: Obama Throws Senate Democrats Under the Bus

Oct 21 2014 6:14pm CDT | Source: Big Government

President Barack Obama sent shockwaves through Senate races during a Monday radio interview with Rev. Al Sharpton wherein the president said Senate Democrats are merely pretending to distance themselves from an Obama agenda they wholeheartedly embrace. "Some of the candidates there--it is difficult for them to have me in the state because the Republicans will use that to try to fan Republican turnout. The bottom line is though, these are all folks who vote with me, they hav ...
