London, June 14 (IANS) Britain Friday agreed with the US assessment of chemical weapons being used in Syria.

London, June 14 — Britain Friday agreed with the US assessment of chemical weapons being used in Syria.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague said he agreed with the US assessment that chemical weapons had been used in Syria, Xinhua reported.

The White House Thursday publicly accused the Bashar al-Assad regime, for the first time, of using chemical weapons, including the nerve agent sarin gas, against rebels in the ongoing civil war.

On Thursday, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay announced that the number of documented deaths resulting from the conflict in Syria between March 2011 and the end of April 2013 has reached 92,901.

Bahrain's Jihadist Dilemma

Jul 19 2014 11:51am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

Pope Meets The King of Bahrain Isla Al Khalifa
In recent years Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have waged crackdowns on local Muslim Brotherhood (MB) movements and their alleged sympathizers under the banner of combating "global terrorism." These governments claim that the MB's rhetoric, espousing peaceful democratic reform, is disingenuous, and that it is actually committed to violently overthrowing the Gulf's monarchies. A man who had left the terrorist jihadist group Islamic State, formerly the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), tells the BBC that the terrorist group uses young, brainwashed foreign men to impose a very specific, oppressive form of Sharia law-- and kill anyone who stands in its way. The man, who did not give his name and hid his face from BBC's reporters for fear of himself or his family--still in Syria--being killed, explained the ISIS philosophy simply: "If ...

Israel's 10th War: What's Next

Jul 15 2014 1:30pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

Presidential Elections Are Held In Egypt
As the war between Israel and Hamas flares up, most attention naturally focuses on Hamas rockets and Israeli air strikes and reserve call-ups. But, it is equally important to understand those broader factors that will govern the conduct of the war and its likely outcome. In this war Israel enjoys several advantages in Operation Preventive Edge against Hamas that it lacked last time around. First, and foremost, there is now an implicit understanding between Al Sisi's Egypt and Israel. ...
