Britain agrees with US over Syrian chemical weapons usage

Jun 14 2013, 6:42am CDT | by

London, June 14 (IANS) Britain Friday agreed with the US assessment of chemical weapons being used in Syria.

London, June 14 — Britain Friday agreed with the US assessment of chemical weapons being used in Syria.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague said he agreed with the US assessment that chemical weapons had been used in Syria, Xinhua reported.

The White House Thursday publicly accused the Bashar al-Assad regime, for the first time, of using chemical weapons, including the nerve agent sarin gas, against rebels in the ongoing civil war.

On Thursday, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay announced that the number of documented deaths resulting from the conflict in Syria between March 2011 and the end of April 2013 has reached 92,901.

ISIS Fighter Claims Turkey Funds the Jihadist Group

Jul 30 2014 6:41pm CDT | Source: Big Government

Turkey Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his AK Party have a well developed reputation for anti-Semitism and anti-Israel policies generally. But now ties to the Islamic State, formerly known as ISIS, are emerging. The Jerusalem Post reported one Islamic State member said Turkey, a member of NATO, provided funds for the terrorist group. "Turkey paved the way for us. Had Turkey not shown such understanding for us, the Islamic State would not be in its current ...

Jul 29 2014 2:47pm CDT | Source: Big Government

The United States State Department International Religious Freedom Report for 2013 revealed some dire news about the state of religious tolerance in the world: with ongoing persecution in North Korea, Iran, China, Pakistan, and many other countries, 2013 saw the largest population of displaced persecuted minorities "in recent memory." In an extensive analysis of the state of religious freedom across the world ...

Experts Estimate ISIS Is Making Up to $3 Million a Day Selling Oil from Captured Fields

Jul 29 2014 2:21pm CDT | Source: Big Government

The terrorist group Islamic State, formerly the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), could be making up to $3 million a day in illicit oil sales using captured oil fields in Iraq and Syria. Iraqi officials are warning that the jihadists are selling their own oil in ISIS-controlled areas and shipping it out to shady buyers in nearby countries. According to NBC, the Islamic State – which is attempting to transition from terrorist group to, precisely, a state – has begun to sell gas from oil ...

7 Things to Consider Before Choosing Sides in the Middle East Conflict

Jul 28 2014 1:07pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

Are you "pro-Israel" or "pro-Palestine"? It isn't even noon yet as I write this, and I've already been accused of being both. These terms intrigue me because they directly speak to the doggedly tribal nature of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. You don't hear of too many other countries being universally spoken of this way. Why these two? Both Israelis and Palestinians are complex, with diverse histories and cul ...

Why More Israelis Should Die

Jul 28 2014 10:04am CDT | Source: Big Government

To remedy the simply awful tragedy of not enough Israelis dying as a result of Hamas rocket attacks, something must be done! Send in NATO, bomb an old people’s home, send in UN inspectors to dismantle the Iron Dome systems! It simply is not fair! Such would be the twisted logic that the anti-Israeli crowd are peddling at the moment. Supposed moral outrage points to the heavy casualties suffered by Gazans, and asks, 'Why can't it be more tragic for Israel, too? ...

UN Finally Considers Adding ISIS to Syrian War Crimes List

Jul 26 2014 3:25pm CDT | Source: Big Government

The Islamic State terrorist group, formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), rose to prominence from the ashes of an al-Qaeda-affiliated group in 2013. They have a storied history of brutality throughout Iraq and Syria, with no sign that they will stop committing atrocities. Despite the extensive harm they have done to the people of Syria for more than a year, the United Nations is just now considering adding the terrorist ...

Too Many Mujahideen, Not Enough Engineers Crippling ISIS's 'Socialist' Project in Syria

Jul 25 2014 12:02pm CDT | Source: Big Government

The Islamic State, formerly the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), has had months to establish its jihadist rule of terror in Raqqa, Syria, its "capital." As The New York Times reports, ISIS is stealing from banks and redistributing taxes into social welfare and infrastructure, but has been set back by a lack of vocational education. The New York Times sent an unnamed reporter to Raqqa, to experien ...

Bahrain's Jihadist Dilemma

Jul 19 2014 11:51am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

In recent years Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have waged crackdowns on local Muslim Brotherhood (MB) movements and their alleged sympathizers under the banner of combating "global terrorism." These governments claim that the MB's rhetoric, espousing peaceful democratic reform, is disingenuous, and that it is actually committed to violently overthrowing the Gulf's monarchies. At the heart of the issue is these Gulf governments' belief that the MB ...
