Beijing, June 16 — A court in China has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for forging financial documents to get over 10 billion yuan (around $1.6 billion) from banks and companies.

Liu Jiyuan, 45, former president of an investment management company in Shanghai, was accused of swindling 10.13 billion yuan from several banks and enterprises between November 2008 to November 2010, Xinhua reported.

The court in Jinan in Shandong province said Liu forged seals of banks and companies, loan materials, certificates of deposit and telegraphic transfer as well as cheques.

Liu was also accused of pretending to be a bank staffer to illegally gather deposit from enterprises.

Over eight billion yuan has been retrieved after Liu's case was exposed.

Oct 30 2014 11:13pm CDT | Source: WND

Again! Study demands warnings on abortion-breast cancer link

Oct 30 2014 8:53pm CDT | Source: WND

For the second time in just months, a major study is ringing alarm bells not just about the connection between abortion and birth-control pills and breast cancer, one of the biggest killers of women in the U.S., but over the fact patients are not being adequately warned about the dangers they face in making those “choices.” It was a study in the Linacre Quarterly by experts from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky ...

President Obama’s trip to Asia next month should prove to be reasonably newsworthy, given its regional summit meetings in China and Burma and a stopover in Australia. Electing a GOP Senate Won’t Fix What’s Broke

Oct 30 2014 4:15pm CDT | Source: Big Government

Voter discontent will give the GOP control of the Senate, but Americans quickly will become as disenamored with a new cast on Capitol Hill. Paychecks are stagnant and health care and many other things too expensive, but Americans won’t accept what fixing those problems requires and then pressure politicians to act. The United States manages globalization badly. It has opened markets to cheap imports, while China and other Asian nations maintain high ba ...

This Is How Thoroughly Rotten and Corrupt Hong Kong's Current Government Is

Oct 30 2014 11:33am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

When I read Hong Kong leader C.Y. Leung's statements to the foreign media, I think, "He really needs to sack his PR guy." Whether he believes what he is saying or not, we know that he is mouthing the party line because to control Hong Kong, the Communist Party requires the maintenance of the current system. Although the path along which our political development was supposed to run was the eventual abolition of fu ...
