Beijing, June 16 — A court in China has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for forging financial documents to get over 10 billion yuan (around $1.6 billion) from banks and companies.

Liu Jiyuan, 45, former president of an investment management company in Shanghai, was accused of swindling 10.13 billion yuan from several banks and enterprises between November 2008 to November 2010, Xinhua reported.

The court in Jinan in Shandong province said Liu forged seals of banks and companies, loan materials, certificates of deposit and telegraphic transfer as well as cheques.

Liu was also accused of pretending to be a bank staffer to illegally gather deposit from enterprises.

Over eight billion yuan has been retrieved after Liu's case was exposed.

Editor Note: Historian Diana West delivered these remarks at National Security Action Summit II on Monday, September 29. The event was hosted by EMPact America, in partnership with Breitbart News Network and the Center for Security Policy. Don't Blame Climate Change Deniers

Sep 30 2014 11:11am CDT | Source: Truthout Stories

MythicAmerica is on a forced hiatus while I deal with health problems. But over 300,000 people in New York City the other day reminded us all that no one's health will matter much unless we take care of the planet's health. Watch Your (Supply) Tail

"My logisticians are a humorless lot," Alexander the Great once commented. "They know if my campaign fails, they are the first ones I will slay." Wow. Here I thought I had worked for some tough bosses in my day, but yikes. His point about logistics is quite valid, however. Logistics in warfare can easily make the difference between victory and defeat. In World War II, the allied landings in North Africa were so b ...
