Iran to be more 'transparent' over n-issue: Hassan Rouhani

Tehran, June 18 (IANS) Iran's president-elect Hassan Rouhani said Monday that his country would try to be more " transparent" in its nuclear issue to "build confidence".

Tehran, June 18 — Iran's president-elect Hassan Rouhani said Monday that his country would try to be more " transparent" in its nuclear issue to "build confidence".

"The sanctions are problems which Iran faces today and all of us know that they are oppressive," reported Xinhua citing Rouhani during his first press conference, days after being elected Iranian president having garnered 50.7 per cent of the votes last Friday.

Stating that the use of sanctions in today's world was a "reactionary method and its time has already passed", Rouhani said: "The sanctions are not advantageous for the West either, which is facing economic problems. The (imposed) sanctions only benefit Israel, not other states."

Revealing his government's move in future regarding nuclear issue, Rouhani said: "Firstly, Iran will display more transparency to tell the world that it is doing within the international regulations. And secondly, we will increase the confidence between Iran and the world."

About the talks between the Islamic republic and the world powers over the country's nuclear standoff, he said: "We will further activate the talks with the P5+1 group."

"We believe that Iran's nuclear issue would only be settled though negotiations," said Rouhani while reiterating incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's words that "neither threats nor sanctions will yield results".

American Ties to Israel Remain Strong, Despite Obama's Efforts

Nov 3 2014 2:27pm CST | Source: Big Government

On Sunday, I had the opportunity to join guest host Danny Seaman on Israel's Voice of Israel, to discuss the most recent thorn in U.S.-Israel relations--namely, the "chickensh*t" comment by an unnamed Obama official. One point I tried to make, among others, was that broad support for Israel among the American people is as strong as ever. It will survive this administration (and may even be thriving as a form of opposition to Obama). However, th ...

Oct 31 2014 8:44am CDT | Source: Council on Foreign Relations

As the November 24 deadline for the P5+1 negotiations with Iran approaches, Iran's hardliners seem more willing to expand the nuclear program than encourage economic growth, writes Ray Takeyh. Saudi Activist: Why I Removed the Veil

Oct 30 2014 10:44am CDT | Source: Big Government

This article originally appeared in The Daily Beast: No piece of cloth throughout history has sparked more controversy as the veil. Many Muslim women are forced to wear it daily. The hijab has a spectrum, of course, from its most radical embodiments, the niqab, which covers the entire face, to loose fitting headscarves. Saudi Arabia comes come second only to Iran in using the power of the stick (the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice or the religio ...

Washington Must Not Ignore Iran's Threat against Camp Liberty

Oct 30 2014 4:10am CDT | Source: Big Government

The Iranian regime has been conspicuously furthering its agendas in Iraq while a U.S.-led coalition is fast busy countering the mounting threat of the Islamic State, an extremist group that has occupied large swaths of Iraq and Syria in past months. Included among Tehran’s strategic goals in Iraq are the empowerment of its proxy Shiite militia forces and the further suppression of Iranian dissidents residing in Camp Liberty. Unless Washington takes the correct measures and counters Iran’s ad ...

Why are embassy bombers running Iraqi government?

Oct 21 2014 6:10pm CDT | Source: WND

Why are embassy bombers running Iraqi government? In an scandalous revelation, it turns out that, in Iraq, the just-appointed Cabinet positions, the prime minister, foreign minister and vice president, who was the former prime minister, are members of an Iran-based terrorist organization responsible for the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait. The terrorist organization is called Dawa. And it gets worse! The just-appointed minister of the interior is from another – yes, another – even ...
