Iran to be more 'transparent' over n-issue: Hassan Rouhani

Jun 17 2013, 6:16pm CDT | by

Tehran, June 18 (IANS) Iran's president-elect Hassan Rouhani said Monday that his country would try to be more " transparent" in its nuclear issue to "build confidence".

Tehran, June 18 — Iran's president-elect Hassan Rouhani said Monday that his country would try to be more " transparent" in its nuclear issue to "build confidence".

"The sanctions are problems which Iran faces today and all of us know that they are oppressive," reported Xinhua citing Rouhani during his first press conference, days after being elected Iranian president having garnered 50.7 per cent of the votes last Friday.

Stating that the use of sanctions in today's world was a "reactionary method and its time has already passed", Rouhani said: "The sanctions are not advantageous for the West either, which is facing economic problems. The (imposed) sanctions only benefit Israel, not other states."

Revealing his government's move in future regarding nuclear issue, Rouhani said: "Firstly, Iran will display more transparency to tell the world that it is doing within the international regulations. And secondly, we will increase the confidence between Iran and the world."

About the talks between the Islamic republic and the world powers over the country's nuclear standoff, he said: "We will further activate the talks with the P5+1 group."

"We believe that Iran's nuclear issue would only be settled though negotiations," said Rouhani while reiterating incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's words that "neither threats nor sanctions will yield results".

State Department rejects real refugees

Jul 25 2014 5:51pm CDT | Source: WND

The smell of rank hypocrisy and naked cruelty fills the air at the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. President Obama and his Cabinet are scrambling to find billions in additional funding to accommodate the 60,000 illegal-alien minors who have crossed our southwest border since January. Those minors are being classified erroneously as “refugees” to make their entry into the country appear lawful. Meanwhile, 2,400 real refugees from violence in Iran a ...

MILAN (AP) — An Italian anti-death penalty group says the number of executions worldwide increased last year despite a global trend toward capital punishment abolition. The organization Hands off Cain, based in Rome, said Friday that at least 4,106 people were executed in 2013, up from 3,967 in 2012, due to increases in Iran and Iraq. China remains the world's top executioner, with more than 3,000 executions carried out last year, about equal to 20 ...

The Strangest Disaster on the Planet Right Now

Jul 17 2014 9:05am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

Who even knows what to call it? The Iraq War or the Iraq-Syrian War would be far too orderly for what's happening, so it remains a no-name conflict that couldn't be deadlier or more destabilizing -- and it's in the process of internationalizing in unsettling ways. Think of it as the strangest disaster on the planet right now. After all, when was the last time that the U.S. and Russia ended up on the same side in a conflict? You would have to go back almost three-quarters of a cent ...
