Beijing, June 18 — Border police in south China have seized a large number of snakes and tortoises in a cross-border smuggling case, officials said.

The reptiles, contained in 160 boxes in a truck, were confiscated in the coastal city of Fangchenggang in Guangxi Zhuang region, Xinhua reported.

The public security border defence forces said most of the animals were alive when they were found.

Police suspect that the reptiles were smuggled into China from neighbouring countries.

The animals were later handed over to forestry authorities.

In May, border police in the same city seized 89 boxes containing snakes and 24 boxes of tortoises.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) for President?  Al.com in Alabama recently posed this question: "How would an Alabama candidate do on the national stage?" There is absolutely no indication that Sessions is even considering entering the 2016 fray, but his championing of American workers and stand against massive amnesty legislation and President Barack Obama's executive amnesty must have gott ...

More Evidence the Government Hacked Sharyl Attkisson's Computer

Oct 28 2014 1:11pm CDT | Source: Big Government

Yesterday I noted that an expert who examined Sharyl Attkisson's computer found evidence it had been hacked using proprietary government software. That expert source, described as working for a government security agency, is never named in the book. Attkisson simply refers to him as "Number One." But according to a story published late yesterday by Erik Wemple at the Washington Post, "Number One ...

Hong Kong's Month Of Protests In 15 Incredible Photos

Oct 28 2014 12:07pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

One month ago, on Sept. 28, pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong ballooned in size as activists from the Occupy Central movement joined the ranks of student demonstrators who had flooded the city's center to demand more democratic elections. Hong Kong's police responded with a flurry of tear gas and pepper spray in hopes of dispersing the crowds, but the streets remained full. While the number of protesters has dwindled in more than thirty days of demonstrations, the ac ...

List of the World's Richest Countries; America's Special Role in It

Oct 28 2014 11:48am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

The world's richest countries are the ones where the median wealth per person is the highest. This system ranks nations truly according to the most-representative person in each given nation -- the person who is in the exact middle of that nation's population in terms of per-person wealth. Consequently, for example, if a Bill Gates or other billionaire relocates into a certain country, no matter how small its population is, this won't change that ...

British Minister Claims UK Government Policy Has Helped Save the World from 'Climate Change'

Oct 28 2014 11:05am CDT | Source: Big Government

A British government minister has come up with possibly the best explanation yet for the planet's stubborn failure to show any sign of "global warming" since 1998. Apparently it's a sign that Britain's climate policies are working. Baroness Verma, a minister at the Department of Energy and Climate Change, was speaking in response to a question tabled by Conservative peer and climate sceptic Viscount Ridley  in the House of Lords. Lord Ridley noted: "Th ...
