Hamas executes two Palestinians for working for Israel

Jun 22 2013, 8:18pm CDT | by

Gaza, June 23 (IANS) The Hamas group, which controls the Gaza Strip, has executed two Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel, the group said in a statement.

Gaza, June 23 — The Hamas group, which controls the Gaza Strip, has executed two Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel, the group said in a statement.

The two Palestinian "informants", aged 43 and 49, were hanged to death Saturday, Xinhua cited the statement by the interior ministry of the Hamas government as saying.

The two were accused of "spying for a hostile foreign party and attempted murder", the statement said.

The hanging took place "in accordance with our religion, Sharia and Palestinian law".

Hamas said the executions were aimed to "preserve the societal security".

In March, Hamas launched a drive to combat collaboration with Israel and promised amnesty to any informant who turns himself in willingly.

As many as 16 Palestinians have been executed in Gaza for spying and leaking information to Israel since Hamas seized the territory in 2007.

The group said Israeli airstrikes based on the leaked information have killed "a number of children, citizens and fighters" over the past 10 years.

Saturday's executions were the first in 2013.

Palestinian law stipulates that the head of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) approve the death sentences before they are implemented. However, Hamas implements the executions without the approval of West Bank-based President Mahmoud Abbas, whose forces lost control of Gaza in 2007.

Hannity Rips 'D-List,' 'Ignorant' Russell Brand

Jul 30 2014 11:34pm CDT | Source: Big Government

On Wednesday, Fox News anchor Sean Hannity strongly responded to “D-List actor better known for his failed marriage to Katy Perry” Russell Brand for comparing Hannity to terrorists and defending Hamas.  “Ouch. I feel so bad Russell doesn't like my style of interviewing,” Hannity remarked sarcastically.  Hannity criticized Brand’s defense of Hamas, saying, “Russell, if you're watching and I'm sure you will, take a close look at your TV because I need to educate you bec ...

What does Bible say about the future of Gaza?

Jul 30 2014 6:32pm CDT | Source: WND

As the focus of the world is now fixed on the Gaza Strip, students of the Bible would do well to stop to consider what the ancient Hebrew prophets had to say about the future of this little piece of land. Let’s consider a few passages. First, according to the Scriptures, the return of Jesus and the subsequent judgment will largely revolve around the what the prophet Isaiah referred to as, “the legal cause,” or “the controversy of Zion”: For the LORD ...

Jul 28 2014 8:48am CDT | Source: Big Government

As Israel conducts its Operation Protective Edge to stop Hamas' rocket and terror attacks from Gaza, another “Freedom Flotilla” is being organized in Turkey purportedly to bring humanitarian aid to the Hamas-controlled Palestinian coastal enclave--with the protection of the Turkish military, according to a Jerusalem Post report. The flotilla, called “Freedom Flotilla II,” is being organized by the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), the same ...

Turkey sends 'Freedom Flotilla' to Gaza

Jul 27 2014 2:48pm CDT | Source: WND

(JERUSALEM POST) — Amid Israel’s Operation Protective Edge to stop Hamas rocket fire from Gaza, a “Freedom Flotilla” was being organized in Turkey to bring humanitarian aid to the Hamas controlled Palestinian coastal enclave. The flotilla being organized, called the “Freedom Flotilla II,” is the successor of the Mavi Marmara flotilla that sought to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip in May 2010. The new flotilla is being organized by the Foundati ...

Put on your clothes, daughters of Israel

Jul 25 2014 6:00pm CDT | Source: WND

Israel is a sanctified nation. How do I know? Because God said so. But even things that are set aside as holy must be participants in their own preservation or they just rot like everything and everyone else. A people must morally sustain itself. When Balaam went out to curse the Jewish nation he examined them from many purviews to seek out a tiny perforation in the nation’s piety; for just like a bacterium, a curse, too, can enter a vulnerable opening. But they were ...

CNN Puts False News Of Israel Rejecting 'Cease-Fire Deal' Over Faces of Injured Children

Jul 25 2014 3:36pm CDT | Source: Big Government

As my colleague, senior editor-at-large Joel Pollak pointed out, Friday afternoon, CNN made a huge deal of Israel rejecting a "cease-fire deal" based on CNN's made-up premise that there was some sort of a deal. Pollak writes quite correctly that "there was no deal, but a mere proposal" and "there was no indication Hamas would agree to the terms." This deal CNN speaks of never existed. CNN is making it u ...

Levin Blasts ‘Putrid’ Stewart: ‘Read up, Ivy League Boy’

Jul 23 2014 12:37am CDT | Source: Big Government

Conservative talk radio host Mark Levin bashed Jon Stewart’s “putrid” “disinformation” against Israel and “his clapping seal studio audience” on Tuesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.  “The fact of the matter is if Hamas had the weaponry that Israel had...Israel would cease to exist. And if Israel wanted to take out whole communities in Gaza or the whole Gaza Strip, they could do so in about 30 minutes...a country that agrees to a cease-fire, that was negotiated b ...

Moral equivalence is moral negligence

Jul 21 2014 5:54pm CDT | Source: WND

Efforts to proclaim moral equivalence are not always misguided; sometimes each side is equally at fault or close enough. But these efforts are often misguided and unhelpful – and sometimes harmful. Throughout my life, there has been an increasing trend to attach moral equivalence to all kinds of disputes and conflicts, such as Israel vs. Hamas, which is the subject of a future column. I assume this is mostly an outgrowth of o ...

Super-Rich Stage Crass London Lamborghini Protest For Palestine

Jul 20 2014 3:35pm CDT | Source: Big Government

Super rich ‘activists’ have launched the most bizarre protest in support of the Socialist Workers campaign on Palestine yet: driving through Mayfair in Lamborghini's with banners. The drivers took placards with "Socialists Workers. Free Palestine" and drove the expensive super-cars past Harrods. The ‘protest’ came a day after tens of thousands of activists took to the streets to support the plight of Hamas in Gaza, ...
