Hamas executes two Palestinians for working for Israel

Jun 22 2013, 8:18pm CDT | by

Gaza, June 23 (IANS) The Hamas group, which controls the Gaza Strip, has executed two Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel, the group said in a statement.

Gaza, June 23 — The Hamas group, which controls the Gaza Strip, has executed two Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel, the group said in a statement.

The two Palestinian "informants", aged 43 and 49, were hanged to death Saturday, Xinhua cited the statement by the interior ministry of the Hamas government as saying.

The two were accused of "spying for a hostile foreign party and attempted murder", the statement said.

The hanging took place "in accordance with our religion, Sharia and Palestinian law".

Hamas said the executions were aimed to "preserve the societal security".

In March, Hamas launched a drive to combat collaboration with Israel and promised amnesty to any informant who turns himself in willingly.

As many as 16 Palestinians have been executed in Gaza for spying and leaking information to Israel since Hamas seized the territory in 2007.

The group said Israeli airstrikes based on the leaked information have killed "a number of children, citizens and fighters" over the past 10 years.

Saturday's executions were the first in 2013.

Palestinian law stipulates that the head of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) approve the death sentences before they are implemented. However, Hamas implements the executions without the approval of West Bank-based President Mahmoud Abbas, whose forces lost control of Gaza in 2007.

The U.S. Jewish Community, Amoral Familism and the Crisis of Palestine

Aug 28 2014 10:59am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

We're all thankful for a truce in Gaza as long as it lasts. Five hundred children have been killed in the last few weeks. A similar number of Palestinians have been killed in this round as Israelis killed by Arab terrorism in the history of the State of Israel. A traditional Jewish response to this would be: "He who destroys a human life is as if he had destroyed the whole world." My own rabbi said a ...

Standing in the ashes

Aug 24 2014 3:13pm CDT | Source: WND

If in the future America sees another catastrophe perpetrated by terrorists and commentators in the media start asking how could this happen, think back to what I’m about to say. America has a failed foreign policy! I don’t believe for a minute that Iran has stopped working on a nuclear weapons program. Iran supports Hamas and ISIS, ISIL and/or the Islamic State. Iran has given weapons and financial su ...

Sun News: Canadians, Americans Boost IDF-Made Rifle Sales To Support Israel

In 2005, boycotts of Israel and divestments from companies with ties to Israel began in earnest.  In 2014, Sun News Network reports that Israeli supporters are countering these movements by buying Israeli products--especially the civilian version of IDF's new battle rifle, the Tavor.  According to Sun News, "boycotts have cost [Israel's] agricultural sector over 100 million Shekels" and product ...

Baroness Warsi's Pro-Israel 'Chequebook' Comment is A Sop to Anti-Semites

Aug 10 2014 10:39am CDT | Source: Big Government

Britain's newspapers are today filled with stories about Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, who resigned from David Cameron's cabinet this week in a purported response to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. According to her, Cameron's Conservative Party will lose next year's General Election on the ethnic minority vote; which is less of an indictment of the Tories, and more an indictment of the type of divisive, segregationist rhetoric that ...

Christians Help Jews in East Ukraine

Aug 8 2014 8:26am CDT | Source: Big Government

With the plight of Israelis targeted by Hamas rockets at the forefront of mainstream media, the struggle of east Ukraine's Jewish minority often goes unreported. The unstable region is under control of pro-Russian forces who choose to persecute anyone who does not adhere to the Russian Orthodox Church. Christians who are not members of that church, who also face persecution, have reached out to help the Jews. “This is th ...

Analysis: Could Israel be Bombing Islamic State to Save Kurds?

Aug 7 2014 6:54pm CDT | Source: Big Government

Israel may be attacking positions held by the terrorist Islamic State, or ISIS, militia. That is one possible conclusion after Kurdish sources reported Thursday that airstrikes had begun in northern Iraq, together with airlifts to help stranded civilians, while the U.S. denied any involvement. Israel has a long-standing, if largely covert, relationship with the Kurds of northern Iraq and recently gave official support to Kurdish independence. It is quite possible that the Kur ...
