Iran not to allow foreigners to decide for Syria: Minister

Jun 22 2013, 10:00pm CDT | by

Tehran, June 23 (IANS) Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi has said that his country will not allow any foreign nation to decide for the Syrian people, after a "Friends of Syria" meeting in Doha pledged to arm the Syrian rebels.

Tehran, June 23 — Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi has said that his country will not allow any foreign nation to decide for the Syrian people, after a "Friends of Syria" meeting in Doha pledged to arm the Syrian rebels.

"The Islamic republic will not allow, as it has proved, any foreign prescription to be imposed on the Syrians," Xinhua quoted Salehi as saying.

He said Iran was against arming Syrian opposition groups as such a move will "prolong the crisis, sabotage and bloodshed".

Iran and the West have accused each other of meddling in Syria's two-year-old conflict.

At a joint press conference with visiting Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour, Salehi said both regional and non-regional states should help Syrians find a solution to the crisis themselves.

Earlier, the Friends of Syria meeting in Doha demanded Iran to stop its interference in Syria.

The meeting, attended by nations supporting the Syrian opposition, also urged Lebanon's Hezbollah Shiite movement to stop fighting alongside forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Obama, ISIS, Kissinger and Clausewitz: American Military Force in Religious Conflicts

Sep 9 2014 6:59am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

It took Henry Kissinger to articulate the sense of chaos and anarchic violence that is spreading across the world: The World Order is crumbling. Beheadings, mass murder of civilians, international borders vanishing, and the inability of political institutions to manage conflict are smashing the carefully constructed post-WWII universe. There's a reason, and historical precedent, and neither bodes well for a swift ...

(NBC NEWS) A charter flight was grounded in Iran with as many as 100 Americans on board Friday due to a “bureaucratic issue,” according to the U.S. State Department. The Boeing 737, which routinely flies contractors from Afghanistan to Dubai, was delayed by three hours, but the airline did not refile a flight plan with Iranian authorities, according to a U.S. official.
