Beijing, June 30 — China is willing to make joint efforts with other countries to promote development and prosperity of the world, the country's premier Li Keqiang said during a meet with visiting former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger.

As the two leaders met here Friday, the Chinese premier said the world was undergoing complex and profound changes.

Economic globalisation, regional integration, and the liberalisation and facilitation of trade and investment were a general trend, which was a powerful driving force to address global financial problems and achieve an economic recovery, reported Xinhua Saturday citing Li.

Kissinger, who was in Beijing for the 3rd Global Think Tank Summit, noted the significance of China's growth for the world, adding that he would continue to play an active role in Global Think Tank Summit meetings.

Putin's Latest Iron Curtain Call -- Ukraine

Sep 17 2014 10:44am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

As many scholars suggest, Russian foreign policy has been characterized by a complex mix of national security and expansionist interests. At the same time, that condition makes it possible to leverage thos ...

Cheney's Iraq Facts Are Still All Wrong

Sep 12 2014 4:17pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

Former Vice President Dick Cheney's September 10, 2014 speech at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) was particularly bad from both a timing and protocol perspective given that the President was going to lay out his strategy to confront ISIS that same day. But more importantly, the many factual errors and misleading statements about the Obama administration in his speech did not contribute to a "fair and balanced" debate about the foreign policy challe ...

With Nixon's Resignation, an Era of Division Began

Aug 6 2014 5:49pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

Forty years ago, on August 8, 1974, Richard Nixon appeared on national television to announce that the following day he would resign, the first and so far the only American president to do so. For those of us who were around back then, it was an unforgettable experience, which was greeted with relief, mostly, because the long ordeal of what came to be known as the Watergate Affair had sapped the energy and pat ...

Why This Is the Right Time to Cooperate With Iran

Jul 28 2014 3:37pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

With the world seemingly exploding around us, it may be time to consider our relationship with Iran. As Henry Kissinger said once, to solve the biggest problems, sometimes it is necessary to expand them. We should seriously explore ways in which our deeply problematic relationship with Iran can be improved through finding small zones of cooperation -- including perhaps in Iraq today, which presents an opening of somewhat aligned ...
