Baghdad, Sep 15 (IANS) At least 26 people were killed and 81 wounded in a series of bombings, including 12 car bomb attacks, across Iraq Sunday, police said.

Baghdad, Sep 15 — At least 26 people were killed and 81 wounded in a series of bombings, including 12 car bomb attacks, across Iraq Sunday, police said.

Two car bombs struck a marketplace in the city of Hillah, some 100 km south of Baghdad, while a third car bomb went off in an industrial area, a local police source told Xinhua.

The three car bombings killed a total of 13 people and wounded 30 others.

In Iraq's eastern province of Wasit, two car bombs went off outside a restaurant in the town of Hafriyah, killing two people and wounding 10 others.

Two car bombs blew up in succession at a parking lot in the town of Swayra, some 70 km southeast of Baghdad, wounding three people.

A roadside bomb was detonated in Wasit's provincial capital of Kut, wounding a civilian.

Elsewhere, three people were killed and 18 wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in an industrial area of the Shi'ite holy city Karbala, a local police source said.

In southern Iraq, two car bombs ripped through the city of Nasriyah wounding 11 people.

Also in the south, a car bomb detonated in the oil-hub city of Basra killing three people and wounding two others.

In a separate incident, a civilian was killed and four wounded when a car blew up near the passing convoy of Ryadh al-Adhadh, chairman of the Baghdad provincial council, in Baghdad's northern district of Adhamiyah, an interior ministry source told Xinhua.

Adhadh was unharmed in the attack.

A civilian was killed and another wounded in a roadside bomb attack in Abu Ghraib area, near Baghdad, while another civilian was wounded when a bomb attached to his car exploded in Abu Dsheer district in the southern part of the capital.

In northern Iraq, gunmen shot dead three passengers in the city of Shirqat, reported Xinhua citing police.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Nokia Lumia 630 #100aires Pop-Up Store At The Old Truman Brewery
Almost every president in recent history has experienced what I like to call "The six-year blues." For Reagan it was Iran-Contra, for Clinton it was Monica Lewinsky, and for George W. Bush, it was Iraq and Afghanistan. President's Truman and Johnson decided they didn't want to run for a second elected term because they were so unpopular. Nixon needs no explanation. And now, President Obama is suffe ...

Views Of International Criminal Court The Hague As Dutch Prosecuters Consider War Crimes Probe Into Flight MH17
Since the beginning of the war, I have spoken twice to Aharon Appelfeld, the celebrated Israeli novelist and Holocaust survivor whose book, "Blooms of Darkness," has sold over a million copies. He is sort of secluded in his home in a little village close to Jerusalem. When there is an alarm, he goes into his cellar with his wife -- like everybody else does these days in Israel.
