Hillary Clinton wrestling with White House run

Sep 23 2013, 11:30pm CDT | by IANS

Washington, Sep 24 (IANS) Not long ago, Hillary Clinton had "absolutely no plans to run" for the White House in 2016. Now she is "wrestling" with the idea, but is in no hurry to decide as it's a decision "not to be made lightly."

Washington, Sep 24 — Not long ago, Hillary Clinton had "absolutely no plans to run" for the White House in 2016. Now she is "wrestling" with the idea, but is in no hurry to decide as it's a decision "not to be made lightly."

A possible White House run by the former Secretary of State and First Lady, whom polls put as the leading contender Democratic nomination, has become a topic of renewed speculation with the publication of an interview by New York magazine.

In her first interview since leaving the State Department, asked by the magazine whether she wrestles with the idea of a possible run, Clinton replied "I do, but I'm both pragmatic and realistic."

"I think I have a pretty good idea of the political and governmental challenges that are facing our leaders, and I'll do whatever I can from whatever position I find myself in to advocate for the values and the policies I think are right for the country," she said.

"I will just continue to weigh what the factors are that would influence me making a decision one way or the other," said Clinton, who started out as a leading contender for Democratic nomination in 2008 too, but narrowly lost out to then Senator Barack Obama.

But "I'm not in any hurry. I think it's a serious decision, not to be made lightly, but it's also not one that has to be made soon," she said. "This election is more than three years away, and I just don't think it's good for the country."

"It's like when you meet somebody at a party and they look over your shoulder to see who else is there, and you want to talk to them about something that's really important; in fact, maybe you came to the party to talk to that particular person, and they just want to know what's next. I feel like that's our political process right now. I just don't think it is good."

Some of Clinton's closest confidants insist she will run, even if she hasn't realized it yet, according to the magazine. Of Clinton's failed 2008 bid, her aide Melanne Verveer told the magazine, "She doesn't repeat her mistakes."

Clinton also told the magazine that after many years, she and her husband Bill Clinton were enjoying their "ordinary" life together.

"We get to be at home together a lot more now than we used to in the last few years. We have a great time; we laugh at our dogs; we watch stupid movies; we take long walks; we go for a swim. You know just ordinary, everyday pleasures," she was quoted as saying.

Obama Never Has a Plan

Aug 29 2014 8:19am CDT | Source: Big Government

On Thursday, President Obama held a press conference in which he humiliated himself entirely on the question of America’s handling of the terror group ISIS. Explaining that he had to consult Congress and check the pulse of Americans, Obama stated, “I don’t want to put the cart before the horse. We don’t have a strategy yet.” Which begs the question: what the hell does this guy do for a living? ISIS has been on the move since April 2013, when Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi announced t ...

Hillary Clinton Finally Speaks about Ferguson Shooting

Aug 29 2014 7:52am CDT | Source: Big Government

Weeks after a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, shot and killed an African American teenager, spurring weeks of riots, Hillary Clinton, presumptive 2016 Democrat candidate for president, has finally spoken out about the matter. After taking criticism for over two weeks for staying silent on the incident, Clinton at last called for a "thorough and speedy investigation" of the shooting. She also chimed in with a belated comment ...

Has Hillary ever been right?

Aug 28 2014 6:51pm CDT | Source: WND

Sen. Rand Paul raises an interesting question: When has Hillary Clinton ever been right on foreign policy? The valkyrie of the Democratic Party says she urged President Obama to do more to aid Syrian rebels years ago. And last summer, she supported air strikes on Bashar Assad’s regime. Had we followed her advice and crippled Assad’s army, ISIS might be in Damascus today, butchering Christians and A ...

Trayvon Martin, meet Michael Brown

Aug 28 2014 6:50pm CDT | Source: WND

All it took for Al Sharpton and the other race hustlers to rush off to Ferguson, Missouri, was for a 6-foot-4, 300-pound gangbanger named Michael Brown to be shot while struggling for a cop’s gun. That’s also all it took for Eric Holder to decide to send the FBI in to investigate what he decided within mere hours was a federal crime. My question is why none of these actions are ever taken when, as is usually the case, it’s s ...

Rand Paul is right: Attacking secular states helps Islamists

Aug 28 2014 6:47pm CDT | Source: WND

The newest line from the Obama administration is that the slaughter of Christians and Shia Muslims in Iraq is the fault of President Assad of Syria. The fact that the United States, Europe, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have spent over $50 billion so far to topple the secular government of Syria is not a factor at all, according to the White House. Neither is the Obama-orchestrated “Arab Spring,” which has cost countless lives and left thousand ...

HUFFPOST HILL - But Tan He Lead?

Aug 28 2014 4:02pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

A Republican study finds the GOP's in trouble with female voters, so we expect future campaigns to focus on deporting women. Hillary Clinton spoke out on Ferguson, wisely waiting until there was no risk of sniper fire. And Mitch McConnell tried to tamp down fears of another government shutdown, saying, "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-shutdown president." This is H ...

Paul Ryan Says He'll Wait Until 2015 To Decide On A Presidential Bid

Aug 28 2014 3:43pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

While Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) hasn’t announced plans to run for president in 2016, he is certainly open to the possibility, telling Larry King in an interview set to air Thursday, “I’ll make my mind up with my family in 2015.” Speculation about a presidential bid for the former vice presidential candidate intensified after Mitt Romney, his running mate on the failed 2012 GOP ticket, announced that “unless circumstances chan ...
