Hexagon Geosystems will strengthen its market position and technology in the mining industry by complementing its well established Leica Geosystems Mining business with the acquisition of Devex. Devex, based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil has a leading market position in the South American market, serving the mining industry with automation solutions for mining operators.

Brisbane, Australia, October 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Devex and Leica Geosystems Mining will both carry on as separate businesses to serve their customers in the mining market. CEO and co-founder Guilherme Bastos will continue to lead Devex and CEO Haydn Roberts will continue to lead Leica Geosystems Mining.

The acquisition of Devex not only advances Hexagon Geosystems' expansion into South America but the mining industry as a whole. This strong strategic commitment creates opportunities for both Devex and Leica Geosystems Mining to cross-sell complementary Hexagon Geosystems technologies and expands the market with advanced life of mine solutions. Additionally it enables both companies to exploit product integration opportunities to better serve the automation needs of mining industry.

"Hexagon's customers in mining and other sectors are increasing the utilisation of automation technologies in order to deliver higher efficiencies at lower costs," said Hexagon President and CEO Ola Rollén. "Devex's strong presence and technology leadership not only opens doors to cross-sell complementary Hexagon offerings to the same market but also exploit product integration opportunities to better serve the automation needs of additional segments, like agriculture and construction."
