Red carpet welcome for PM as he arrives in Moscow

Oct 20 2013, 8:46am CDT | by IANS

Moscow, Oct 20 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday arrived on a two-day official visit to Russia to a red carpet ceremonial welcome.

Moscow, Oct 20 — Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday arrived on a two-day official visit to Russia to a red carpet ceremonial welcome.

The prime minister's special aircraft touched down at Vnukovo International airport here amid a cloudy day with the temperature at 5 degrees Celsius, but bitterly cold.

He was received by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

Both sides are set to ink six agreements, including one on the transfer of sentenced persons and on science and technology, during their annual summit Monday.

Earlier, before leaving on the visit, the prime minister had described the annual summit he would hold with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday as an "important feature of our special and privileged strategic partnership".

He said India's scope of ties with Russia is "unique, encompassing strong and growing cooperation in areas such as defence, nuclear energy, science and technology, hydrocarbons, trade and investment and people to people exchanges".

He said he would convey to President Putin "the importance we attach to our relations with Russia, and I will use this visit to strengthen our partnership in every possible way".

Despite the high expectations ahead of the visit, India and Russia are not to ink the commercial agreement on the third and fourth reactors for Kudankulam.

The two leaders are set to go over the main pillars of the bilateral strategic partnership, including defence, energy, space, science and technology, economy.

Manmohan Singh would be conferred an honorary doctorate by Moscow State Institute of International Relations, which he said is a "testimony of the relations between our two countries".

Chechnya Bans President Barack Obama, European Union Leaders

Jul 29 2014 3:50pm CDT | Source: Big Government

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has banned President Obama from visiting the Russian Republic of Chechnya. The ban is a sort of sanction, as Kadyrov claims it is retribution for the wars in Libya, Syria, Iraq, and Ukraine. The Washington Post reported these sanctions and Kadyrov’s relationships with Hollywood celebrities, but they failed to mention his most prominent friend: Russian President Vladimir Putin. The West and Ukraine accused Putin of the rebellion ...

Russian BUK Missile System v. American HAWK Missile System - Is There Any Possibility of Another Similar Flight MH-17 Shoot Down Occurrence?

Jul 28 2014 3:32pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

It is an understatement to say that the whole world was stunned to learn on Thursday, July 17, 2014 that a commercial/civilian aircraft had been shot out of the sky by a medium range surface-to-air missile. But it is true -- various respected media outlets have reported that a Russian-made BUK/SA-11 medium range surface-to-air missile system locked onto Malaysia Airline's Flight MH-17 flying at approximately 33,000 feet and ...

Russian President Vladimir Putin WASHINGTON – Moscow has threatened to end security arrangements it has with the United States and the European Union should they impose additional sanctions as a result of what they claims is Russian “complicity” in aiding the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 by pro-Russian fighters in eastern Ukraine. CREDIT: AP Russian authorities are suggested to organizers of an LGBT pride parade in St. Petersburg, Russia that they hold this year’s event in a landfill, representing just the latest in the country’s ongoing effort to humiliate the community. Since 2010, the government has denied the group, Ravnopraviye (Equality), permission to host rallies in public areas and has instead suggested alternative out-of-the-way sites in far off villages. Muslim-Marxist Obama must be removed now!

Jul 25 2014 5:55pm CDT | Source: WND

President Barack Hussein Obama is literally destroying the world. If you thought that Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were bad, there is no comparison to this socialist/communist, racist, anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, anti-white commander in chief whom I frequently refer to sarcastically, but realistically, as the “Mullah in Chief.” A while back, I was excoriated by the left for my speech before the World War II Memorial as thousands of patriots protested Obama’s closing of the ...

Ukraine: Why There Is Hope

Jul 25 2014 9:51am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

The shooting down of Malaysian Flight 17 over Ukraine may actually open doors for peaceful resolution of the conflict there. As evidence mounts of their complicity in the disaster, Russia is now thrown on the defensive and any momentum they and their separatist Ukrainian allies had has been stalled, at least for now, as Russia twists and turns in the glare of global condemnations and threats of significantly more painful economic sanctions. This, and the revolting pictures of the carnage ...

Let's Tell the Truth About This International Madness

Jul 25 2014 8:04am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

The horrible human costs and increasing danger the world is now facing in Gaza, Ukraine, and Iraq show the consequences of not telling the truth. And unfortunately, we seem to mostly have political leaders who are unwilling to admit the truth of what's happening, deal with root causes instead of exploiting symptoms, and then do everything possible to prevent the escalation of violence and further wars. Ins ...

Would McCain or Romney Have Acted Differently From Obama Regarding Today's World Events? Absolutely Not.

Jul 24 2014 6:31am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

To some conservatives, Benghazi is "worse than Watergate", the Affordable Care Act is akin to communism and slavery, and the president has a forged birth certificate. The VA crisis is Obama's responsibility, even though Dick Cheney still believes Iraq was "the right thing" and even freeing a U.S. Marine from the Taliban is considered a "dangerous precedent." To further the notion that Obama is to blame for ...
