Border issues to figure in talks as PM flies to China

Oct 22 2013, 1:00am CDT | by IANS

Moscow, Oct 22 (IANS) After a visit to Moscow, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday left for Beijing on the second leg of his visit where border issues are set to top the agenda of his talks with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

Moscow, Oct 22 — After a visit to Moscow, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday left for Beijing on the second leg of his visit where border issues are set to top the agenda of his talks with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

The prime minister held over four and a half hours of restricted talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin Monday signifying the closeness of their relations and he now flies into comparatively tougher terrain in China.

Before leaving for his two-nation visit, the prime minister had said that India and China have together "reached important consensus on maintaining peace and tranquility on the border and made preliminary progress toward settlement of the India-China boundary question".

He said that both countries have "areas of concern" which are being addressed by both sides with "sincerity and maturity, without letting them affect the overall atmosphere of friendship and cooperation".

The Border Defence Cooperation Agreement (BDCA), which aims to prevent face-offs between Indian and Chinese troops along the over 4,000 km Line of Actual Control (LAC), is expected to figure in talks. The blueprint of the BDCA was cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Security last week.

Water sharing issues, the adverse trade figure and visa issues are expected to figure in the talks.

Ahead of the prime minister's Beijing visit, China's foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said China is "looking forward" to the visit.

Addressing a regular briefing Monday, she said the Indian prime minister's visit is of "great importance to deepen China-India strategic partnership as the visit follows the visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to India in May".

Manmohan Singh would meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and jointly address a presser with him at the Great Hall of the People Wednesday. He is to address the Communist Party's Central Party School Thursday before flying back.

China's move to issue stapled visas to two archers from Arunachal Pradesh is expected to figure in the talks too.

Muslim-Marxist Obama must be removed now!

Jul 25 2014 5:55pm CDT | Source: WND

UN-GENERAL ASSEMBLY-LUNCHEON
President Barack Hussein Obama is literally destroying the world. If you thought that Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were bad, there is no comparison to this socialist/communist, racist, anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, anti-white commander in chief whom I frequently refer to sarcastically, but realistically, as the “Mullah in Chief.” A while back, I was excoriated by the left for my speech before the World War II Memorial as thousands of patriots protested Obama’s ...

Ukraine: Why There Is Hope

Jul 25 2014 9:51am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

Russian President Vladimir Putin Visits Samara
The shooting down of Malaysian Flight 17 over Ukraine may actually open doors for peaceful resolution of the conflict there. As evidence mounts of their complicity in the disaster, Russia is now thrown on the defensive and any momentum they and their separatist Ukrainian allies had has been stalled, at least for now, as Russia twists and turns in the glare of global condemnations and threats of significantly more painful economic sanctions. This, and the revolting pict ...

Let's Tell the Truth About This International Madness

Russian President Vladimir Putin Visits Samara
The horrible human costs and increasing danger the world is now facing in Gaza, Ukraine, and Iraq show the consequences of not telling the truth. And unfortunately, we seem to mostly have political leaders who are unwilling to admit the truth of what's happening, deal with root causes instead of exploiting symptoms, and then do everything possible to prevent the escalation of violence and further wars. Instead we have politicians who ar ...

To some conservatives, Benghazi is "worse than Watergate", the Affordable Care Act is akin to communism and slavery, and the president has a forged birth certificate. The VA crisis is Obama's responsibility, even though Dick Cheney still believes Iraq was "the right thing" and even freeing a U.S. Marine from the Taliban is considered a "dangerous precedent." To further the notion that Obama is to bla ...

When hundreds of millions of people are governed by certain laws that run contrary to logic and compassion, then everyone suffers from the irrational fears of an older generation of voters. Will classic Joe Biden remark haunt him?

King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands at Four Freedoms Awards in Middelburg
Vice President Joe Biden, who in the past has stated that “jobs” is a three-letter word, “J-O-B-S,” and praised how President Franklin D. Roosevelt responded on television to the 1929 market crash (even though that happened before his term and television hadn’t been invented yet) now has authored another fairly extreme statement. Only this time the ripples could extend beyond the usual guffaws from those ...
