One killed, three injured in Los Angeles Airport shooting

Nov 1 2013, 2:48pm CDT | by IANS

Washington, Nov 2 (IANS) A gunman shot and killed a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) worker at Los Angeles International Airport Friday before himself being shot and taken into custody, media reports said.

Washington, Nov 2 — A gunman shot and killed a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) worker at Los Angeles International Airport Friday before himself being shot and taken into custody, media reports said.

At least three other people, including a second TSA employee, were wounded, NBC News reported citing federal authorities. But it was not clear whether the shooter was among the injured.

President Barack Obama has been briefed on the shooting and will continue to be updated, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters. But the official said he had no further information on what happened at the moment.

The shooting happened at about 9.20 in the morning (9.50 p.m. India time) at Terminal 3 at a screening station where fliers show their IDs and boarding passes, NBC News said citing Nico Melendez, a TSA spokesman. The agent was shot in the leg, he said.

The suspect wearing military-like clothing and carrying a rifle approached the checkpoint at terminal 3 and shot a TSA officer, CBS News reported citing a law enforcement source.

Authorities believe the event is not widespread and is over, the channel said.

Aerial video showed what appeared to be a TSA employee being wheeled away into an ambulance by police. Several people were seen being treated by emergency responders outside the terminal, but it's unclear if they are gunshot victims, it said.

Nick Pugh told NBC that he was waiting in line for security on the upper mezzanine when he heard eight to 10 shots.

"We were just standing there in line and somebody started shooting," he was quoted as saying. "Everyone dropped to the floor and started crawling along the ground, abandoning their suitcases."

Passenger Robert Perez told CBS that TSA agents came through the terminal and yelled that a man had a gun.

"I heard popping and everybody dropped to the ground," Perez said.

Another witness told MSNBC that there was an initial round of shots, then a pause, then more shots. An airline worker told them, "Go out! Go out!" the witness said. People streamed down the stairs and onto the tarmac for safety, he said.

The Federal Aviation Administration grounded flights taking off from Los Angeles and those that were bound for Los Angeles and had not already taken off.

The Obama Administration lied last year when they informed Congress and the public that the 2,200 people that the Administration released from incarceration to save money had only minor criminal records.  USA TODAY, gaining the data from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through the Freedom of information Act, reports that some of the illegal immigrants had been charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, drug traffic ...

6 Times Obama Declared Crisis, Then Did Nothing

Oct 20 2014 1:37pm CDT | Source: Big Government

Last week, President Obama finally began taking Ebola seriously – so seriously that he cancelled a campaign trip in order to hold an emergency meeting on Ebola. He then appointed a new Ebola czar, Ron Klain, whose stellar qualifications for handling a possible Ebola outbreak include flacking for Janet Reno, Al Gore, and Joe Biden. Finally, Obama held another Ebola meeting after going golfing. Klain skipped the meeting. It was the second such meeting Klain skipped. Don’t worry. The Obama ...

Carney: 'No Question' It Will Be A Good Year for GOP, Bad Year for Dems

Oct 10 2014 9:03am CDT | Source: Big Government

On Thursday’s broadcast of “CNN Tonight,” former White House press secretary Jay Carney, now a CNN contributor, warned that his party is facing a bad election year with the midterm elections under a month away. “I think the Democratic candidates have to sort of thread this needle very carefully because it is true that when you have an unpopular president of your party, you don’t want to be associated with him. You know, your opponents are running ads linking him to you so you want ...

CNN's Jay Carney was White House Spokesman During Alleged Prostitution Cover Up

Oct 9 2014 1:04pm CDT | Source: Big Government

At the time, during President Obama's 2012 reelection campaign, former White House Press Secretary and current CNN employee Jay Carney, repeatedly told the White House Press Corps  that no one in the administration was involved in or was being investigated for a Colombian prostitution scandal that ripped through the Secret Service. The Washington Post now says that wasn't true. The Post's front page Thursday morning bombshell puts CNN in a unique position. While the Po ...

Why the Obama Administration is Unable to Defend Itself on the Issue of a Residual Force in Iraq

Oct 3 2014 2:08pm CDT | Source: Big Government

Could the rise of ISIS in Iraq have been prevented if the U.S. had left troops in the country in 2011? That question has been a subject of debate in Washington for years. So why do members of the Obama administration seem so utterly unprepared to discuss it? Last night State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki agreed to discuss it with Megyn Kelly and her apparent lack of preparation cost her. The intervie ...
