Pakistan Taliban gets a new chief

Nov 2 2013, 8:12am CDT | by IANS

Islamabad, Nov 2 (IANS) Pakistani Taliban has appointed Khan Said Sajna alias Khalid, who was involved in an attack on a naval base and a jailbreak in which 400 prisoners fled, as its new chief after a US drone attack killed its leader Hakimullah Mehsud Friday, media reports said Saturday.

Islamabad, Nov 2 — Pakistani Taliban has appointed Khan Said Sajna alias Khalid, who was involved in an attack on a naval base and a jailbreak in which 400 prisoners fled, as its new chief after a US drone attack killed its leader Hakimullah Mehsud Friday, media reports said Saturday.

The consultative body of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Saturday appointed Khan Said the new chief of the outfit at a meeting at an undisclosed place in North Waziristan, Xinhua quoted reports in Pakistani media as saying.

Khan Said, 36, who was the close aide of former chief Hakimullah, got 43 out of 60 votes of the consultative body, the reports said.

Khan Said had been leading the Taliban chapter of South Waziristan since May this year after a US drone strike killed an important leader named Wali-ur-Rehman.

He was reportedly involved in some of the big terrorist attacks in Pakistan, including the attack on a naval base in Karachi and the 2012 jailbreak in which the Taliban freed around 400 inmates in Bannu district.

According to reports, Khan Said has no basic education, conventional or religious, but is considered a battle-hardened and experienced guerrilla battle commander.

Meanwhile, TTP spokesman did not confirm reports that the TTP council has appointed Khan Said as its new chief and insisted that meeting is still in progress somewhere in North Waziristan.

"We will formally make announcement of the new chief in a couple of days," Azam Tariq, spokesman for the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Tariq told journalists via phone from an undisclosed location.

The militant outfit also confirmed the death of their chief Hakimullah Mehsud in the US drone attack.

Humourless Twitter Leftists Side with the Taliban to Criticise UKIP

Aug 26 2014 8:53am CDT | Source: Big Government

I thought I’d seen it all when ‘anti-fascist’ rent-a-mob types screamed words such as ‘racist’ and ‘coconut’ at UKIP’s Black, Asian, Muslim and Jewish supporters at a big rally in London back in May. Now, my astonishment at the lunacy and double-standards of the vociferous far-left has ratcheted up another notch. I’ve just finished writing a chapter on women’s rights in a new publication called Beyond Multiculturalism, edited by UKIP’s culture spokesman, Peter Whittle. My contribu ...

Aug 22 2014 2:22pm CDT | Source: Big Government

In the wake of a Government Accountability Office report that concluded the Obama administration broke the law when it released five Taliban Guantanamo prisoners for Bowe Bergdahl, House Speaker John Boehner slammed the administration’s propensity to ignore laws. “[I]t is yet another reminder of this White House’s stubborn and dangerous practice of simply ignoring laws it finds inconvenient,” Boehner said in a statement. “As news reports continue to suggest that the president is ...

The American Muslim Imperative

Aug 19 2014 1:29pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

A declaration last week by a European Muslim academic that he would indefinitely abstain from several North American Muslim conferences and conventions because of a perceived political apathy on global crises, such as in Gaza and elsewhere, has sparked intense and important debate on the role of North American Muslim -- and, for the purpose of this piece, American Muslim -- community organizations. In order to forge stronger community progress while not seeking to restri ...

CIA op: Clinton lied about Bin Laden opportunity

Aug 2 2014 8:47pm CDT | Source: WND

WASHINGTON – Bill Clinton is a “monumental liar” for saying he refused to take out Osama bin Laden because of collateral damage, said Michael Scheuer, who headed the CIA’s Bin Laden unit at the time. An audio recording of Clinton made Sept. 10, 2001, recently surfaced in which Clinton said he chose not to kill bin Laden because he would have had to “destroy a little town called Kandahar in Afghanistan and kill 300 innocent women and child ...

Jul 28 2014 1:27pm CDT | Source: Big Government

President Obama is practically shouting from the rooftops that he's about to grant a new unilateral amnesty to as many as six million illegal aliens, but the topic of immigration does not come up in a new op-ed from Speaker John Boehner explaining his lawsuit against Obama for lawlessness. In the op-ed, Boehner explains why he chose to focus the lawsuit only on Obamacare. “On the advice of legal experts, the House action will focus on his decision to extend--twice--the deadl ...
