Beijing, July 22 (IANS) A man in China's Guangdong Province was arrested after getting caught juggling between his four wives for more than 20 years.

Beijing, July 22 (IANS) A man in China's Guangdong Province was arrested after getting caught juggling between his four wives for more than 20 years.

Chen, 45, was arrested after one of his wives contacted authorities on discovering the woman she believed he was having an affair with was his legal spouse, the Global Times reported.

According to reports, the four wives had no clue about each other's existence.

Chen managed to marry multiple times because his older marriage certificates had not been entered into China's national online database, the police said.

Chen married his first wife, also surnamed Chen, in 1992.

He then married wives Wang and Zhang in 1994 and Liang in 2007.

Wang bore him a girl and a boy while Zhang had a son.

His secret came to light when Wang discovered husband Chen was having what she thought was an affair with Liang in 2013.

At first she chose to forgive her husband for the sake of their children.

However, Liang produced a marriage licence and told Wang she must divorce their mutual husband.

Polygamy in China is punishable by imprisonment or detention of up to two years.

Gary Webb Was Right

Oct 24 2014 9:01am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

"Gary Webb was no journalism hero, despite what 'Kill the Messenger' says," read the recent Washington Post Op-ed headline. It's a sad sight, especially at a time when real journalism is shriveling and in retreat, including in the Washington Post news room. Once again the paper has decided to focus on discrediting a fellow journalist instead of deepening the analysis of the story he highlighted. Gary Webb put a spotlight on the CIA and the Reagan administ ...

Texas Newspapers Could Carry Democracy From... Hong Kong!

Oct 24 2014 7:55am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

The most energetic, persuasive case I've heard for a civic-republican/democratic movement to dethrone both Republicans and Democrats who won't take big money out of elections was made this month to an audience of hundreds at Bard College's Hannah Arendt Center conference on "The Unmaking of Americans" by Harvard Law Professor and campaign-finance revolutionary Lawrence Lessig, founder of the MayDay Political Action Committee. Lessig showed graphically that ...

History Proves Travel Bans Are Based On Fear, Not Facts

Oct 24 2014 6:13am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

On October 16, more than 40 members of Congress went on record seeking a travel ban against individuals from Ebola-afflicted West Africa, despite caution from Thomas Frieden, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director, that a ban would hurt global efforts to fight the outbreak. "A determined, infected traveler can evade the screening by masking the fever with ibuprofen," Republican Rep. Tim Murphy said during an opening statement at the Congr ...
