President Obama has high hopes for cleaning up America’s atmosphere. The action plan includes taking steps towards fighting climate change. Thanks to climate change the weather is becoming erratic. While 2014 was a hot year, 2015 is even hotter.
Since the end of the millennium, the heat waves have been increasing each year. From hurricanes to droughts to wildfires, the climate effects everything in a negative manner. Certain segments of the population (children, seniors and the poverty-stricken) are most affected.
Problems include: heat, smog, extreme weather, contaminated comestibles, water-borne illnesses and insect swarms. According to President Obama, we ought to act before it is too late. Whitehouse official website says that carbon dioxide pollutants are the greatest challenge before us.
The temperatures worldwide are on the rise. And so is the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Besides carbon dioxide, fluorine, nitrous oxide and methane are other offending agents. Progress in the future will include several things. These include: fuel economy, cleaner energy, less carbon dioxide and renewable resources.
President Obama has already done so much for the nation. Now he plans to do even more for the climate of the United States before he vacates the White House. The plan includes ending energy wastage in residences, business firms and factories.
Other greenhouse emissions such as HFCs will be reduced to boot. More details about the plan are yet to emerge. Especially, the emissions from power plants will dwindle. According to ABC, this will lead to cleaner air and a greener environment.
Carbon emissions will fall to 1/3rd by the year 2030. When President Obama fought the 2008 elections, he made a promise he hasn’t forgotten. And that is the environmental emphasis. The current rate of power plant emissions will wreak havoc with the climate.
Thus care is better than cure. Change is of the essence. For the sake of the future generations, this is a vital decision. Obama’s plans have provoked the reaction of the Republicans.
They couldn’t care less about the weather. All they want is progress at all costs. But Obama wants to follow a path with a heart. This is a far cry from ruthless and rampant progress for progress’ sake.
The power plants will have ample time in which to clean up their act. These sort of things do not happen all at once. They take time and patience. It will be years before the results start coming. And then there will be peace since the chaotic pollution in the atmosphere will be no more.
A piecemeal approach is best. The search for clean and renewable sources of energy will be a costly process. There is a price for the radical transformation. All America will feel the aftershocks of the good change.
Some are saying that the poor will have to bear the brunt of the burden. But the Obama administration made certain changes that will not overburden the poor. This action plan by Obama is even bigger in its scope than Obamacare.
The cutting of greenhouse gases is a good thing. These pollutants can only ruin the environment. And though the plan has its opponents, it will go forward in its entirety despite the opposition. After all, it is the average American who will benefit.
