Some more bad news just came in for GOP frontrunner Donald Trump: the candidate for president is making even more enemies than he had before. Donald Trump has basically been fired from speaking at a conference by Erick Erickson, the conservative commentator who is running the conference. The reason? According to the Washington Post, it is because of the comments he made about Megyn Kelly during the Fox News GOP Debate.
In an interview with the paper, Erickson said that Trump was originally schedules to speak at the RedState gathering today at the College Football Hall of Fame. However, he told Trump’s manager, Corey Lewandowski, that Trump was no longer welcome. He told him last night at 11 PM.
Trump’s campaign said in a statement that Erickson’s decision was “another example of weakness through being politically correct. For all the people who were looking forward to Mr. Trump coming, we will miss you. Blame Erick Erickson, your weak and pathetic leader. We’ll now be doing another campaign stop at another location.”
What did Trump say this time? He said that Kelly, one of the moderators in Thursday’s Republican debate, “had blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.” Trump corrected the statement saying that he said “whatever” instead of “wherever.”
Erickson, who is a regular face on Fox News and the owner of the RedState blog, doesn’t stray from saying things he believes either, which made him and Trump natural friends. He once called retired Supreme Court Justice David Souter an “[expletive] child molester” and First Lady Michelle Obama a “Marxist harpy.” He has since apologized for both comments.
So if Erickson says that Trump went too far, it is likely that the man really went that far. When asked why he uninvited Trump, he said: “I think there is a line of decency that even a non-professional politician can cross. Suggesting that a female journalist asking you a hostile question is hormone related, I think, is one of those lines.”
Erickson then went on to say that he hasn’t talked to Trump, but did have a combative conversation with his manager.
Instead of Trump speaking at the conference, it will be Megyn Kelly, the woman he talked about.
