Romney Will Campaign Tomorrow In OH, PA

Taking it down to the last minute

Although millions of people will have already cast their vote, Mitt Romney's ground game is still going to be active into the day tomorrow, with stops scheduled in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

"Look, we have one job left, and that’s to make sure that on Election Day, we make certain that everybody that’s qualified to vote gets out to vote," Romney said during a campaign rally today.

A victory in Pennsylvania would be incredible for Romney, but he really has his eyes set on Ohio, just like Obama does. Earlier today, both candidates were campaigning in the Buckeye State just a few miles apart from one another.

Ohio is always a key target in presidential campaigns, in part because it is a microcosm of the entire country. It isn't just about the fact that there are a lot of swing voters and because the state carries a nice prize of 18 electoral votes.

It is more about the fact that Ohio does truly represent the entire country, with cities like Columbus (which is home to many Fortune 500 companies and also has offices of some of the major financial institutions) very representative of big cities throughout the country, and rural areas acting like states in the middle of the country.

So the reason that Ohio's choice usually ends up being the country's choice isn't just because of the close electoral race but because of the true barometer that Ohio holds. The state has correctly chosen the winning candidate more times than any other state, by far.

John Boehner Is Done Being Nice About The Unemployed

Sep 19 2014 10:51am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner's Thursday lament that unemployed people think they can "just sit around" instead of working shows how much the political conversation about the economy has changed. All year long, Democrats have bashed the Ohio Republican for his callous indifference to the plight of the long-term unemployed, who Democrats have insisted aren't lazy. And in dozens of int ...

Ohio Business Groups Push Schools To Drug-Test Students

Sep 18 2014 4:12pm CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

WASHINGTON -- Business groups in Ohio want some local school systems to drug-test students who enter vocational training programs. While it's not unheard of for a school district to make its students pee in cups, it's less common for local businesses to urge the policy. That's what the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition and the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce are doing in Ohio with a letter to schools in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties ...

Sheldon Adelson Gives $10 Million To Karl Rove Group, Just One-Fifteenth Of 2012 Contributions

Sep 18 2014 9:57am CDT | Source: Politics - The Huffington Post

A $10 million donation seems like a hefty amount of cash for the average political donor. But for casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, who spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 million over the course of the 2012 election, his latest donation is the least he can do. Politico first reported Thursday that Adelson, whose net worth is estimated at approximately $40 billion, gave $10 million to Crossroads GPS, a GOP group founded by strategist K ...
